Protect What Matters Most - And Save Before

June 30!

Life is unpredictable, but your financial security doesn’t have to be. Sun Critical Illness Insurance (“Sun CII”) offers a lump-sum benefit to help ease the burden of a serious health event - so you can focus on recovery, not your finances.

Whether it’s reducing debt, replacing lost income, or covering out-of-pocket medical expenses, Sun CII provides flexible, comprehensive protection for you and your loved ones.

Now is the perfect time to act! From April 1 to June 30, clients who purchase a Sun CII policy will receive a cheque with 25% of first-year premiums on adult policies - or 50% on child policies.

Don’t miss this limited-time offer to safeguard your future and save. Contact us today to learn more.

How Investment Income is Taxed in Canada

How Interest Dividends, Capital Gains, and Foreign Income Affect Your Bottom Line.

Not all investment income is taxed the same and knowing the difference can help you keep more of what you earn. Whether you’re investing for retirement, a child’s education, or long-term growth, understanding how your income is taxed is key to making smarter financial decisions.

Visit our site where we break down the main types of investment income and how they’re treated by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), using clear examples based on a 37% combined federal and provincial marginal tax rate.

Ask the Advisor

Q: My grandchildren are in their 20s. What is the best financial advice I can give them? Should they start with TFSA, RRSP, or FHSA?

A:  It’s a great time to share your wisdom and introduce them to our team. Many of our clients have benefited from our guidance for decades and we would be honoured to help your family on their financial journey.

So which account is best?

  • RRSP: Ideal if they expect to be in a lower tax bracket in retirement

  • TFSA: Better if their tax rate is higher in life

  • FHSA: A powerful new option - especially for first-time homebuyers

Why the FHSA stands out:

  • $8,000/year contribution limit ($40,000 lifetime)

  • Tax-deductible contributions

  • Tax-free withdrawals for home purchase

  • No repayment required (unlike the Home Buyer’s Plan)

  • Can transfer unused funds to an RRSP without penalty

  • Both spouses/partners can open accounts

What about investments?

The right investments depend on their goals, income, risk tolerance, and timeline. That is where we come in. Let’s connect your loved ones with a MWFS Account Manager to start the conversation.
