Following are important dates for 2023 tax year to be aware of:  

The regular filing dates are:

  • February 19, 2024: Earliest MWFS can EFILE and ReFile or individuals can File My Return online.
  • February 29, 2024 (first 60 days of year):  RRSP contribution deadline for deduction towards 2023 income tax return
  • April 30, 2024: Deadline to file your income tax return to avoid late penalties.
  • June 17, 2024: Deadline to file your taxes if you/spouse/common-law partner are self-employed, self-employed individuals normally have until Jun 15th annually.

The regular income tax payment deadline date*:

  • April 30th: Deadline to pay your taxes to prevent interest and/or penalties being assessed. 

The payment date* for tax instalments:

  • March 15th
  • June 15th
  • September 15th
  • December 15th 

 

*When a due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a public holiday recognized by CRA, CRA consider your payment to be paid on time if CRA recieve it on the next business day.

It's important to adhere to the above filing deadlines to prevent penalties and interest charges being assessed.

 

File your Income tax return before the deadline for continuity of benefits and to access these benefits: 

► BC Climate Active Tax Credit (BCCATC): For July 2023 to June 2024, the BCCATC provides a credit of up to $447 for an individual, $223.50 for a spouse or common-law partner and $111.50 per child ($223.50 for the first child in a single parent family)

► Canada Child Benefit (CCB):   

► Canada Pension Plan (CPP), 

► Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), and 

► Goods & Service Tax (GST) Credit
